A gathering of moments from early morning sunrises to the best oysters on the planet, in Puerto Escondido, State of Oaxaca, Mexico, seen through my eyes, captured on disposable film.

Afternoon ceviche at Puerto Angelito

The following excerpts were written on a napkin which I folded up and stuck in my journal.

"Playa Angelito, P.E. Mex⎯⎯Oysterios (Spanish for "oysters") that taste like the ocean filled me up and never left. Fresh, slimy, sandy, oh so salty... for 30 pesos ($1.50), we shared 4 oysters. I can live off this. Ocean food, mermaid food. My body fishes for the salty sensations...

...I floated on the shores edge and watched two little girls play on the shore, one older and one younger, probably ages 7 and 2, like me and Nicole (my
younger sister) when we were young. Squeezing and pulling her (the youngest) in the water. Big cheeks smiling, wobbling and chubby body stumbling away from the waves.

Sure, there was a language barrier, but when he cracked open an oyster for me to taste, I am positive we spoke the same language.

...I walk the rocks, the birds remind me of the river birds, the same ones, same songs (reminiscing of the birds that lived at Lake Havasu/ Colorado River, a destination away from home, that my family always went to when we were younger).

Mexican pipeline crashing in the distance. A mango pit on the ground, fisherman boats floating, anchored, fish, oysters, local kids playing and eating juicy pineapple on the beach, palm trees dancing, and Mexican music playing from a speaker echoing in the distance. This is Puerto Escondido."

There was something raw and authentic about these oysters, as if the ocean was pouring into me.

Every hour is a happy hour

Every day, at 6:38 PM (it was the same time for a period of 3 days), I watched the sun set on the western horizon. I've never witnessed such a consistent and transparent, vibrant red ball of fire melt into the horizon the same each evening, as it does in Puerto Escondido. Every day is a fucking ritual. Salute!
